Air Separation, Nitrogen Generation Modules

Targeting the OBIGGS Market - Generon® IGS’ NEW Ultra-High Flow (UHF) Air Separation Modules Offers 300% Increase in Volumetric Productivity

Houston, Texas March 16, 2009 - Generon® IGS, an affiliate of Innovative Gas Systems, is excited to announce the successful production of a radically higher flow membrane module for air separation and nitrogen generation. The new membrane modules double the volumetric productivity of any competing air separation membrane device in the world. This represents a 300% increase in volumetric productivity from Generon®s existing product line while maintaining the lowest air consumption in the market today. This NEW Ultra-High Flow (UHF) membrane promises to change the marketplace for on-site membrane air separation systems and open new markets for Generon ®IGS, e.g. On-Board Inert Gas Generating (OBIGG) Systems for aircrafts.  Selected customers will be operating the first of these UHF modules in the upcoming months as the product line is launched.


 

The new UHF membrane modules will allow for dramatically more compact and lighter weight membrane systems.  The key to this new product line is a patented type of hollow fiber which is significantly more gas permeable than standard fibers - allowing more air to be processed.  Generon® has been working on developing this revolutionary fiber for more than a decade and we are proud to announce the successful completion of all quality and long-term durability procedures.

Generon® products have always been the market-leader if it comes to membrane air efficiency, i.e. to achieve lowest air consumption per unit of product nitrogen.  Now we will have an additional advantage over all our competitors: Highest per volume nitrogen production rate.

Customers that are in need of more compact and more energy efficient nitrogen generation systems want to be supplied with our NEW UHF membrane modules.  Since the modules are a lot more productive, one can operate membrane systems from now on at lower pressures to significantly decrease air compressor size and overall power consumption and occupying the same real-estate.  Alternatively, users can operate with fewer modules at lower capital costs.  Applications where space and weight are at a premium will benefit immediately, e.g. On-Board Inert Gas Generating (OBIGG) Systems for aircrafts, Shipboard Inert Gas Systems, Mobile and Truck-Mounted Inert Gas Systems, oil platforms, etc.





For higher purity membrane applications (up to 99.995%) and/or if you target maximum energy conservation, the standard line of Generon® modules will be still providing nitrogen product with the lowest feed air requirements in the industry.  And this remains true for feed air pressures up-to 500 PSIG. The UHF modules however will greatly change the market for Membrane Nitrogen Generators
